Paris Trip, Part Two (the photos) - - - - - - - Reis naar Parijs, Deel twee (de foto's)

In this post, we are not going to be translating into dutch ... because we have all this French to translate! Now, where did we put our French language dictionary?? (Waar hebben we ons Franse woordenboek gelaten??)
You already know that our humans spent some wonderful days in Paris last month (Paris Trip, Part One - where you can see "mom" sketches of Paris ). They came back with over 500 photos this trip! So, as per request of some of our friends out there in "blogland", we've put together some of the highlights of what 'our humans' saw and did while in Paris ... easier than uploading 500 pics, don't you think? Here, we present you a virtual tour of Paris ... enjoy.
Views of Paris -The Photos!
Kijk op Parijs - De Foto's !
The Sainte-Chapelle
This is the 'hidden jewel' of Paris! Located within the confines of the Palais de Justice, the Sainte-Chapelle was built in the 13th century for King LouisIX (St. Louis) to house the relics of Jesus' Passion and the True Cross. These possessions catapulted France into the forefront of the Christian world of that period in history.
Whether you are a follower of the Christian religion or not, this is one truly magnificent little cathedral not to be missed (in "mom's" opinion). Certainly a place to visit if you are a lover of Medieval stained glass, architecture, sculpture & decoration.

Musée du Louvre - selected views, as you can't take pics everywhere!
The Louvre houses 35, 000 works of art from eight departments, displayed in over 60,000 square meters of exhibition space dedicated to the permanent collections. Plan on spending a day in one can never do the whole museum in one day. "Mom" tells us that to thoroughly appreciate the Louvre and its treasures, you really need a week! What?! A week in an art museum!?! YIKES! No way are two cats going to spend a week in the Louvre, unless there are plenty of still-lifes & sculptures of fish in there, and the café has paté - wait, it's the Louvre, what are we worried about?!! *cats giggling*

Montparnasse - views from Tour Montparnasse (Montparnasse Tower)
The Tour Montparnasse is currently the highest skyscraper in the city of Paris, rising 196 meters (over 640 feet) above the area of Paris known as Montparnasse. Visitors can take the fastest elevator in all of Europe up to the 56th floor where, on a good day, you can see out over every direction of Paris - full 360 degree panaoramic views. The tower is also open for night views. Our humans had fun trying to locate the various Paris landmarks that they have visited.

Musée de l'Orangerie & Jardin des Tuileries
It was a cold day (our "mom's" birthday actually) when they visited l'Orangerie and since this is also a popular musem, there was a line to get in. All was not so bad though, as there was a clarinetist serenading the people in the line with classical clairnet solos - and he wasn't bad either! But we don't know the names of the songs he played, because our humans didn't tell us.
L'Orangerie is located in the Tuileries garden which is part of the area that makes up the Louvre complex - it is at the opposite end of the garden from the Louvre with a spectacular view over the Place de la Concorde (where Louis XVI lost his head! Ooops! Maybe his wife, Marie-Antoinette, should have suggested fish rather than cake!).
If you love Monet & the Impressionists, then you'll be thrilled at the renovations they have made on l'Orangerie and the beautiful way in which Monet's famous "Nymphaes"are presented.

Various photos around Paris.
You must be bored by now. This is a bit like your Uncle Bob & Aunt Ida showing slides of their summer holiday to "fill in the blank", or endless slides of Cousin Jimmy's last birthday party (Ouf!, borrrrring, unless there are photos of fishcakes)! So this is the last group of photos from "our human's" Paris trip we're showing you ... besides, we're getting frustrated with the computer today.

Sometime, we don't know when, we'll show you what 'that frog' ( the one that always travels with them... ) did in Paris. We don't own watches (or calendars), because we're cats, we don't need to - so you'll just have to wait until we feel like posting Paris pics again.*meow* purrrrr* rubbing up against you, like such sweet kitties* big cat grins on our little faces* purrrrr* meow* *WINK*! ;-)
Tot Ziens!
