Happy Halloween from Holland - 2007!

Because I see so many hits on this blog from people wondering if Halloween is celebrated in the Netherlands, I thought I'd show you what a Happy Halloween in Holland looks like. :-)
Pumpkins & ornamental gourds grown in Holland.

While Halloween is most definitely not a Dutch tradition, it certainly is catching on in Holland .... maybe due to all those Americans & English marrying the willing Dutch ... heh heh *wink*
Here are some images from the Dutch Pumpkin Man's farm in Vleuten. Each year, "mom" & dad" go there to buy their pumpkins and decorations for Halloween. Every year the assortment of pumpkins he grows keeps getting more interesting and he is the coolest Pumpkin Man in all of the Netherlands! ("mom & dad" think so)

Even our neighbors went all out this year. This is a pic of our house and theirs ready for Halloween.

Boo on the wall!

And of course, no Halloween at our house would be complete without "mom's" Halloween dinner treats.

Merlin's Eyes

Green Bat soup with Big Ugly Grubs ... ewwww!

Hairy Spiders and Pumpkins, mini-cupcakes - 2007. Yum!

And me relaxing with my pumpkins. :-)

Here's wishing you a very
Happy Halloween!

Tot ziens!

I love those "Merlins Eyes" deviled eggs ....I remember them from last year!!
Edie hates Halloween, she hides until all trick-or-treaters are gone. Owen stays right by the door so he can check out all the costumes. But then he's always interested in what's going on outside..or in the "Big Room" as I like to call it.
Happy Halloween!!!

Hi Chuck (and Owen & Edie),

"Merlin's Eyes" are a standard here for Halloween..."Papa" always requests them! ;-)

We had 7 trick-or-teaters! 7!!! Two more than last year. :-)))))
"Mom" was pleased ... LOL

I stayed upstairs. Like Edie, I don't really like Halloween. The doorbell scares me!

Hello! I'm new to the netherlands and looking to do some halloween celebrating... where/which farm is that one you have so beautifully photographed? My little daughter would love to go explore that farm!

Thank you!

Dear Anna and daughter,

Welcome to the Netherlands (Welkom in Nederland)! :o)

I'm sorry to say this, but the pumpkin farm no longer exists. The farm was in Vleuten ( just outside of Utrecht), but the man had to shut down 3 years ago. I do not know if he has reopened anywhere else, but that farm is no longer there. :(

You can look in florists' shops or grocery stores for small or decorative pumpkins, but it's not an easy task as Halloween is still not really a "Dutch thing" ( though we Americans are doing our best to "add" to the local

With kind regards (Met vriendelijke groet),
